GENRE: Drama.

SUMMARY:
Bridges is a father daughter story, a road movie, and an Indie Drama.

The back story involves a Blues Band destroyed by drug addiction. Years later, the band leader, John Grey, now an engineer and bridge enthusiast, is diagnosed with cancer. John sells his possessions, leases a motor home, and pressures his daughter, Sheri, into a cross country trip en-route to her freshman year of college.

Along the way, John re-connects with three former band mates whom he hasn’t seen since a car accident that nearly killed Sheri promulgated John’s divorce and destroyed Sheri’s relationship with her mother, Linda.

The road trip is a process of healing, discovery and acceptance for John, but it creates considerable conflict with Sheri who discovers many details of her dad’s past, his plan to avoid a painful death, and his scheme to re-connect Sheri with her mother.

Via this process, John comes to terms with the events of his past and shows Sheri the path to mend her burned bridge with Linda. He’s then ready to cross his final bridge with equanimity.

“Bridges” is a metaphorical tale of the healing process, the stages of grief, and the importance of love to the human heart.

The script is well reviewed. Here are excerpts from  coverage by SCREENPLAYREADERS.COM:

“BRIDGES is a dramatic, character-driven journey of self-discovery. The plot line is simple and straightforward…. The unique hook is a tour of bridges. The idea of bridges is clever and engaging because it’s very symbolic and conveys the theme. It’s about building new bridges or connections, and it’s also about mending old fences or bridges before going over the last one.”

“The story is also told with heart. It’s not just about the father healing old wounds and confronting his fears, it’s also about his daughter learning to confront her fears and her old emotional scars.”

“The premise is highly appealing.”

“A devastating, enlightening drama.”

“A really touching story.”
