SUMMARY: Hekla Egilsdottir has an IQ off the charts and a talent for criminal inquiry. But she pushes the legal envelope and struggles with life in recovery.

When a domestic robot commits a brutal rape and murder, Hekla seeks help in her investigation from Jim Mason, chief engineer at HAR, an American robotics company that sends Jim on a mission to mitigate their liability.

Soon more bodies pile up, all killed via malfunctioning technology and all linked via cryptic, blood soaked messages to a neo-luddite, anti-technology cult. The clues lead Hekla to a conspiracy that implicates her friends, family members, and the leaders of her small town.

Suddenly Hekla and Jim, who become romantically involved, find their lives in jeopardy, and Hekla must use the skills and lessons learned in the course of the story to stay alive and expose the conspiracy.
